Experience, Commitment, and Responsible Management
Prior to being elected to City Council in 2007, Tom served on the Lakewood Planning Commission for seven years and assisted in the development of a new Comprehensive Plan for Lakewood. On Council, Tom worked to keep Lakewood on a sound financial footing, maintaining a balanced budget through the recent recession even after supporting the elimination of the grocery sales tax while continuing to provide the services Lakewood residents have historically enjoyed.
Building Thriving Communities
Tom has defended Lakewood’s superior quality of life by promoting the expansion of our parks, trails and open space and fought to ensure responsible, vibrant economic development. His work on energy conservation programs will reduce energy costs for Lakewood’s residents and businesses, as well as the City itself.
Preserving Lakewood for Future Generations
Fostering economic growth balanced with environmental stewardship is a priority to Tom. He has been a consistent advocate for community sustainability by expanding recycling programs and spearheading the creation of Lakewood’s first sustainability coordinator.
